Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Message Broker V6.x   *
    *                 on Unix running "mqsistop -i".               *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After running "mqsistop -i" on Unix     *
    *                      it may be observed that bipbroker and   *
    *                      bipservice processes have not           *
    *                      terminated.                             *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When the "mqsistop" command is issued the Admin Agent attempts
    to shut down any Execution Groups and then terminate itself.
    If the "immediate" option is chosen then the Admin Agent tries
    the normal sequence first, then kills any DataFlowEngine
    processes that are still running.
    
    The problem was that if a DataFlowEngine process had stopped
    cleanly before the attempted kill, then that could result in
    the Admin Agent believing that the process had not stopped and
    consequently not terminating itself.
    

Problem conclusion

  • WebSphere Message Broker has been modified so that the problem
    no longer occurs.
