Error description

  • Client applications fail to connect when using a CLNTCONN
channel definition from a Client Channel Definition Table file.
This only happens with records written by queue managers at
code level MQSeries 5.0. MQCHLLIB and/or MQCHLTAB environment
variables can be used to refer to this file. The Queue manager
also cannot access these channel records. Probe ID RM554010 is
    written with error code rrcE_FILE_CORRUPT.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
WebSphere MQ 6.0.2.3 Client applications or queue managers
referring to old Client Channel Definition Table files
containing records generated by MQSeries version 5.0.

    Platforms affected:
    AIX,HP-UX (Itanium),HP-UX (PA-RISC),Linux (Power),Linux (s390x),
    Linux (x86),Linux (x86-64),Linux (zSeries),Solaris (SPARC),
    Solaris (x86-64),Windows

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
Defensive code checks were added in WebSphere MQ Fix Pack
6.0.2.3 which did not handle data structures generated by
    MQSeries 5.0.

Problem conclusion

  • The defensive code checks were corrected to operate successfully
on the older data. The problem can also be worked around by
generating a new Client Channel Definition Table file on a queue
manager at a newer code level than 5.0.
