APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • WebSphere MQ utility program runmqtrm (Run MQ Trigger Monitor)
determines that a message it reads from its input queue is not a
correctly formatted trigger message. It sends the message to the
queue manager's Dead Letter Queue, if one is defined.

If the message was Persistent it could be put as a
Non-Persistent message on the Dead Letter Queue.

This was found when the user mistakenly ran runmqtrm against
their application queue rather than an initiation queue (INITQ).

Local fix

  • Ensure that runmqtrm is only run against a INITQ which will
    contain only validly-formed trigger messages.
