• Closed as program error.

Error description

• WebSphere MQ listener process fails to start with an AMQ9255
  error reporting rrcE_LISTENER_ALREADY_RUNNING.
  The queue manager error logs will show a sequence of
  "AMQ5026: The Listener 'xxx' has started, followed shortly by
  "AMQ5027: The Listener 'xxx' has ended " messages.  A trace of
  runmqlsr will show the AMQ9255 error as follows:

Local fix

• A graceful closure of the listener using endmqlsr(or similar
  
  command) prior to reboot or recycling of the queue manager
  would be a temporary workaround

  PROBLEM SUMMARY:
  While starting a listener WMQ generally checks and tidy up the
  old socket files. But in some special cases where remnants of
  the previous listener socket files are sill active there could
  be problem where WMQ might think a listener is already running.

• Code changes have been carried out to clean up the old socket
  files before starting a listener.
