Error description

  • When enabling the gathering of queue statistics in WebSphere MQ,
    it is noticed that when using amqsmon, the values for GetCount
    and GetFailCount are sometimes incorrect, and do not reflect
    the number of PutCount actions.

    For example, when doing a Put of 10 non-persistent messages,
    the Get values are off:
    PutCount: [10, 0]
    PutFailCount: 0
    PutBytes: [1234, 0]
    GetCount: [20, 0]
    GetBytes: [2468, 0]
    GetFailCount: 10
    .
    Notice the following relationships in the amqsmon output:
    GetFailCount = PutCount
    GetCount     = PutCount * 2
    GetBytes     = PutBytes * 2

    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users using WebSphere MQ statistics feature

    Platforms affected:
    All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    The problem occurred because of incorrectly capturing the
    statistics twice in some cases when using asynchronous consume
    feature.

Problem conclusion

  • WebSphere MQ has been modified to correctly capture the
    statistics when asynchronous consume feature is used.
