IT38869: RUNMQSC 'DISPLAY QSTATUS MSGAGE' REPORTS AN UNREASONABLE VALUE FOR MSGAGE.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Under certain situations 'DISPLAY QSTATUS MSGAGE' will report
  an unexpected value for MSGAGE, for Example: 0 if messages are
  on the queue or 50+ years if the queue is empty.
  In such a situation MQGET calls against the affected queues may
  return messages with in incorrectly reported length and
  potentially incorrect message details.
  This may be accompanied with a FFST like:

Local fix

• Set MONQ attribute to off.
  

Problem summary

• When a queue status is inquired via a wild card, the amqzlaa0
  process servicing the request will attempt to cache certain
  inter process communication data. Queue status inquiries will
  create requests which have matching keys for data retrieval
  causing access to the cached data, as the target object name
  is not verified.
  

Problem conclusion

• The product has been changed to verify that the cached reply is
  for the requested queue object.
