Error description

  • The fteCreateTransfer command is used to submit a managed
transfer request for a message-to-file transfer, where the
source queue for the managed transfer is empty. When the managed
transfer request is processed by the agent, it is marked as
    "Failed" with the error message:

BFGIO0414E: No messages exist on queue "<queue>@<queue manager>"

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of MQ Managed File Transfer who perform
    message-to-file transfers.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
APAR IT33189 changed the behaviour of MQ Managed File Transfer
    message-to-file transfers, so that:

    - If a new managed transfer request for a message-to-file
transfer was submitted to an agent.
    - And the source queue for the managed transfer did not contain
    any messages.

the transfer would complete with an error. This behaviour was
incorrect - the managed transfer should have completed
successfully and indicated that there were no messages on the
    queue.

Problem conclusion

  • MQ Managed File Transfer has been changed to ensure that
message-to-file transfers that are submitted for an empty source
queue complete successfully. The supplementary information for
the transfer item will show that there was no messages on the
source queue, and so no items were transferred.

As part of this change, the error message:

BFGIO0414E: No messages exist on queue "<queue>@<queue
    manager>".

has been changed to be an informational message, as shown below:

BFGIO0414I: No messages exist on queue "<queue>@<queue
    manager>".
