APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When MQRC_TRUNCATED_MSG_FAILED (2080) is returned to an
application which is browsing an AMS-protected queue, the browse
cursor is incorrectly advanced to the next message, preventing
the application from retrying the failed browse of this message
    with a larger buffer.

Local fix

  • Ensure that the buffer used by the application to browse the
    queue is large
enough for the messages on the queue.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of MQ's Advanced Message Security component who are
    browsing messages on AMS-protected queues.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The MQGET failed so the browse cursor should not have moved, but
an error in MQ meant that it did, so when the application
increased the buffer size and reissued MQGET with
MQGMO_BROWSE_NEXT it incorrectly got the next message on the
queue instead of the same message. The browse effectively
skipped the message that had been truncated.

Problem conclusion

  • The error has been fixed.
