Error description
AMQ6546E error reported when creating a HA-DR secondary without using floating IP The MQ 9.1.5 Appliance firmware adds support for creating a DR secondary for an HA appliance pair without defining a floating IP address. When attempting to establish this configuration, an AMQ6546E error is incorrectly reported: # crtdrsecondary -m qm2 -s 1024 -l vm01,vm02 -i 192.168.1.1,192.168.1.2 -p 1502 AMQ6546E: An internal IBM MQ Appliance error has occurred.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: This APAR affects users who create DR/HA queue managers on the MQ Appliance that do not use a floating IP address for the DR replication. Without this APAR it is only possible to create one of these queue managers. Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The replication subsystem on the DR appliance needs to be given a single IP address and port to use for its remote connection to the HA group. With floating IP, the DR replication connection can be established in either direction. The IP address used for the remote connection on the DR appliance is the DR replication floating IP address. The port used is the DR port for the queue manager. Without floating IP, the DR replication connection is always established from the HA group to the DR appliance. A dummy IP address and port are used for the remote connection on the DR appliance. The IP address used is the IP address of the local DR replication interface. The port used is a unique reserved port on this interface. The problem was that a unique port was not being generated within the internal MQ DR configuration scripts, which meant the replication subsystem rejected the creation of the second DR/HA queue manager.
Problem conclusion
The code that generates the IP address and port to use for the remote connection on the DR appliance has been updated. A unique reserved port is now generated for each DR/HA queue manager that does not use a floating IP address for DR replication. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v9.x CD TBC.
