Error description

  • Consider the following setup:

    QMGR.A
    SDR Channel : A.TO.B

    QMGR.B
    RCVR Channel : A.TO.B
    Any kind of Channel: UNRELATED.CHANNEL

CERTLABL(MISSING.CERT) is set on UNRELATED.CHANNEL where
    MISSING.CERT is a non-existent certificate.

When executing STOP CHANNEL(A.TO.B) on QMGR.A:

    QMGR.B displays:
"AMQ9645E: Certificate 'MISSING.CERT' missing on channel
    'UNRELATED.CHANNEL'"
    and
"AMQ9999E: Channel 'A.TO.B' to host '***' ended abnormally"
when A.TO.B had in fact ended normally.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of MQ that use the CERTLABL attribute of channels to
manually set SSL certificates for individual channels.

This issue affects only inbound channels to the queue manager,
where the queue manager is the receiving end of a TLS connection
made by a remote client or queue manager.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
An error in the MQ code caused a certificate label error to
    linger
in the system. This would later cause a channel to report an
abnormal end, when it had in fact ended normally.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ code has been changed so the error is reported
    immediately
and does not persist for longer than needed.
