Error description

  • After replacing a failed appliance with a new one or performing
a factory reset to an exiting appliance and then restoring
messaging users and groups, the mqm group and an user
will not be available. This causes some mqcli commands failing
    with unexpected errors and FDCs.

    Example:

    mqa(mqcli)# crtmqm testqmgr
AMQ8101S: IBM MQ Appliance error (893) has occurred.

    mqa(mqcli)# prepareha -s secretkey -a 192.168.10.101
AMQ6546E: An internal IBM MQ Appliance error has occurred.

    mqa(mqcli)# crthagrp -s secretkey -a 192.168.10.102
AMQ6546E: An internal IBM MQ Appliance error has occurred.

    FDCs:

    Probe Id :- DP063008
    Component :- dpcPrepareHA
    Program Name :- mqdpcli
Probe Description :- AMQ6125E: An internal IBM MQ Appliance
    error has
    Arith1 :- 106 (0x6a)
    Comment1 :- Failed to execute 'dp_usermanager' command

    MQM Function Stack
    CLI
    dpcCmd_prepareHA
    dpcPrepareHA
    xcsFFST

    Problem Recreate Procedure:
    - Factory reset
    - Configure the MQ appliance(no changes to user and group
    configuration)
    - Run userrestore command to restore messaging users and groups
    - mqm group and an user will not available

Local fix

  • * Create one user and one group before running userrestore
    command.
    Procedure:
    - Factory reset
    - Configure the MQ appliance
    - Create one user and one group. The user and group that have
    been created
can be deleted if not required. (e.g. create tmpusr and
    tmpgrp and delete them)
    - Restore messaging users and groups
    - No problem found in users/groups

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users running the userrestore command on a new or a
    reinitialized(factory reset) MQ appliance

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A defect in userrestore command caused an incorrect merge
between the existing users/groups and the
backup users/groups, resulting in mqm group and user being
    unavailable.

Problem conclusion

  • The userrestore command has been modified to correctly merge the
backup users/groups with the existing users/groups.
