Error description

  • The dmpmqcfg utility is ending with error: MQSC timed out
    waiting for a response from the command server. The resolved
    queue is ''.
    
    A user issues dmpmqcfg as follows:
      /opt/mqm/bin/dmpmqcfg -a -t all -o setmqaut -m QMGR1
    .
    The header information is displayed but after a while, there is
    an error:

    MQSC timed out waiting for a response from the command server.
    The resolved
    queue is ''.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users running a queue manager without AMS enabled, who query
    security policy information using PCF, such as via dmpmqcfg and
    who have a applied the fix for IT24272 at v8 or v9.0.
    
    The defective variant of the IT24272 fix was shipped only in MQ
    8.0.0.13 and 9.0.0.9.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    A logic error in the changes added under APAR IT24272 caused the
    queue manager's command server to fail to return a PCF_LAST flag
    to indicate that there were no further responses, when querying
    the AMS policy data if the queue manager was not AMS enabled.
    
    This caused dmpcfg to wait for further data when none was
    expected, resulting in a timeout. Other PCF applications may
    also be affected.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The queue manager command server logic has been corrected to
    return the appropriate response when querying AMS policies if
    the queue manager is not AMS-enabled.
