APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • With IBM MQ Version 9.0.0 on Linux x86-64, if the new feature
"runmqsc command line editor for UNIX" is used, the runmqsc
process may intermittently become unresponsive to commands.

This has been occasionally shown to happen if the network
connection is broken to a remote terminal runmqsc session.

For more information about this feature, see the IBM Knowledge
    Center topic below:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSFKSJ_9.0.0/com.
    ibm.mq.pro.doc/q113130_.htm

Local fix

  • Disable the command recall, command completion, and Emacs
command keys by setting the environment variable below:

       export MQ_OVERRIDE_LIBEDIT_LOAD=TRUE

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
MQ version 9.0 UNIX users running runmqsc and using the up/down
arrow or tab keys to recall previous commands or access command
    completion options.

    Platforms affected:
Linux on x86-64, Solaris x86-64, Solaris SPARC, Linux on
zSeries, Linux on Power, HP-UX PA-RISC, HP-UX Itanium, AIX

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Due to a programming error, the command recall/ command
completion function could cause the program to enter an infinite
loop and become unresponsive to key presses.
If this occurred it would be seen that the runmqsc process is
    consuming 100% CPU cycles.

Problem conclusion

  • The programming error has been corrected.
