Error description

  • If authentication fails with the ChlauthEarlyAdopt=y parameter
configured in the qm.ini file, the following AMQ5534 message
appears in the queue manager error log files:

AMQ5534: User ID '<userid>' authentication failed

    EXPLANATION:
The user ID and password supplied by the '' program could not be
    authenticated.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of IBM MQ with queue managers configured with the
    "ChlauthEarlyAdopt=y" setting.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When using the ChlauthEarlyAdopt setting, the authentication
process occurs before the MQCONN process when the application
name is flowed over the connection. Accordingly, the application
name was blank when inserted into the message.

Problem conclusion

  • When ChlauthEarlyAdopt is enabled, the application context at
the point where the message is issued is the channel process
(typically amqrmppa). To allow users to differentiate these
errors from errors caused by locally-bound applications, if a
more specific remote application name has not yet been supplied,
the channel process name will now be displayed in this message
    instead of a blank string:

AMQ5534: User ID '<userid>' authentication failed

    EXPLANATION:
The user ID and password supplied by the 'amqrmppa' program
    could not be authenticated.
