Error description

  • If the cli-timeout configuration option is being used and a
    timeout
occurs when using the mqcli, then the user may see the following
    message on the screen:

    "Session has been terminated. Goodbye"

The session does not disconnect and the mqcli allows further
MQ command activity until the user exits from the mqcli. At
this point the session is disconnected.

Problem summary

    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of the cli-timeout option of the IBM MQ Appliance may be
    affected by this issue.

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The cli-timeout option should force a session that is logged in
to the IBM MQ Appliance CLI to be disconnected if no command
line activity takes place before the timeout occurs.

When in the mqcli part of the CLI, this timeout period was not
observed and sessions would remain connected even after the
    timeout period had elapsed.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ appliance firmware code has been modified so that the
mqcli will correctly observe the cli-timeout value.

It should be noted that when a command is being run from the
mqcli then the timeout is cancelled for that session until the
command ends. This means that if for example the dspmqerr
command is being run, then the session will not time out even if
no command line activity takes place.
