Error description

• There are cases where it is useful for an administrator to
create an MQ Light subscription manually (following the MQ Light
sub naming conventions of ':private:<clientid>:<topicstring>' or
':share:<sharename>:<topicstring>').

This works currently if the DESTCLAS of the administered
subscription is MANAGED, because MQ Light clients use managed
subscriptions themselves. However if the administered sub is
DESTCLAS(PROVIDED), the MQ Light client tries to modify it to
DESTCLAS(MANAGED) which fails. Error that may be encountered is
MQRC_DEST_CLASS_NOT_ALTERABLE

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of:

- The WebSphere MQ V8 AMQP channel
- The IBM MQ V9 AMQP channel

who have a MQ Light client applications that:

- subscribes to an administered Subscription with PROVIDED
destination (queue).

Platforms affected:
MultiPlatform

****************************************************************
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Administered subscription of a MQ Light client failed when it
was DESTCLASS(PROVIDED) with the following exception:

MQException: AMQXR0004E: MQSeries verb=SPISubscribe(String)
returned cc=2(int) MQCC_FAILED rc=2533(int)
MQRC_DEST_CLASS_NOT_ALTERABLE

because the MQ Light client tried to modify the administered
subscription to DESTCLAS(MANAGED). This caused a problem because
MQ Light clients can use only managed subscriptions.

Problem conclusion

• The AMQP listener has been updated to let the MQ Light clients
join an existing administered subscription without modifying the
DESTCLAS.
