APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A client application connected to a V8
    distributed queue manager using SVRCONN
    channels configured with SHARECNV>0,
can generate FDC files in the client
side when the queue manager is shutdown while
    the application is running.

    FDC reports error rrcE_PROTOCOL_ERROR,
probe Id CO398008 and error message
AMQ9504. An FDC with Probe Id XC076010
    is also generated.

Local fix

  • Workaround is to terminate client application prior to shutting
    down the queue manager

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM MQ client applications that use channels with
SHARECNV > 0 may be affected by this problem.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A logic error within the MQ channel code meant that it was
possible for a channel process to incorrectly attempt to send a
notification to a client, after the conversation or connection
to the client had been terminated, while the queue manager was
ending. This attempt to communicate over a closed connection
resulted in the FDC records being generated.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ channel logic has been changed to avoid sending
    notifications
to a client after the channel conversations have been
    ended.
