Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of IBM MQ Managed File Transfer
protocol bridge agents that are experiencing intermittent
    connection problems to file servers.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
If an intermittent break in the connection from a protocol
bridge agent to a file server occurred when retrieving the
details of a file to transfer, the resulting error in parsing
the file details led, in some cases, to an attempt to transfer
the directory the file was in, rather than the file itself. The
directory could not be transferred, causing an error like:

BFGIO0106E: File x is not a normal file (it might be a
    directory)

where x is the directory, rather than the file transfer was
    originally requested for.

This error was originally reported and fixed by APAR IT04813,
shipped in 7505/8002. The APAR IT15639, shipped in
    7508/8006/9001, reintroduced this error.

Problem conclusion

  • The file will now either be transferred, or will fail with an
error indicating the correct name of the file that failed to
    transfer.
