Error description

  • On systems which use INETD to start the MQ listener process
    amqcrsta a timing window exists which can cause the strmqm
    command to fail if an instance of the amqcrsta (INETD MQ
    listener) is started at the same moment.

    For example,

    $ strmqm MQINETD
    WebSphere MQ queue manager 'MQINETD' starting.
    The queue manager is associated with installation
    'Installation6'.
    The queue manager ended for reason 545284880, ''.
    rc=xecE_E_SUBPOOL_EXISTS

    The INETD listener program will fail MQCONNX ended with reason
    code 2538. (rc=MQRC_HOST_NOT_AVAILABLE)

Local fix

  • Issue the strmqm command again.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users of WebSphere MQ starting queue managers while MQ network
    utilities such as the INETD amqcrsta program are active or
    starting.
    This issue can also occur with the more commonly used listener
    runmqlsr program

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    A timing window existed such that initialization of the main
    queue manager process could be affected by concurrent
    initialization of MQ network processes such as amqcrsta and
    runmqlsr. This caused the main queue manager execution control
    process (amqzxma0) to terminate incorrectly.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ initialization process has been modified to allow the
    execution control process to correctly handle concurrent access
    from MQ network processes.
