APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • An MQ channel will not connect and DISPLAY CHS shows the channel
    in
    STATUS(INITIALIZING).

The amqrmppa process issues initial failure data capture (FDC)
    file with a Probeid XC130003.
Subsequent FDC files are issued with the following pattern:

    amqrmppa 42240 33 XC130003 xehExceptionHandler STOP
    amqrmppa 42240 33 RM042101 rrxReportError STOP
    amqzxma0 80262 1 ZX005022 zxcProcessChildren
    lrcW_S_FAST_PATH_APP_DEAD

This FDC pattern repeats as channel attempts to start.

These external symptoms are same as APAR IT12477 but the
underlying root cause is different to that APAR.

Local fix

  • Disable the message suppression function to prevent this
    scenario.

Unset the following environment variables to disable the message
    suppression function:

    MQ_CHANNEL_SUPPRESS_MSGS
    MQ_CHANNEL_SUPPRESS_INTERVAL

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A coding error meant that it was possible for the channel
process to access an uninitialized internal channel attribute
used when suppressing messages. This in turn caused a memory
exception when attempting to suppress error messages.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ queue manager channel code has been updated to add a new
check to prevent the memory exception.
Another APAR fixed in this area was IT12477 and it is
recommended to apply the fix for both IT15599 and IT12477 if
    these symptoms are observed.
