Error description

  • An MQ V8.0.0.3 classes for Java application subscribes to the
topic to receive application activity trace data generated by a
queue manager. However, when the application gets a message
published on this topic, an exception is thrown containing the
    message

    MQJE001: Completion Code '2', Reason '3013'

The call stack of the exception is shown below:

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    This issue affects users of:

    - The MQ V8.0 classes for Java

    who have:

    - Enabled application activity trace on an MQ V8.0 appliance.
    - Created a subscription to collect the application activity
trace data by following the instructions in the <b>Creating
subscriptions to application activity trace</b> topic in the IBM
MQ Appliance 8.0.0 section of IBM Knowledge Center (the URI for
    this topic is
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS5K6E_1.0.0/com.i
    bm.mqa.doc/monitoring/mo00022_.htm).
    - Written an MQ V8.0.0.3 classes for Java application that opens
the subscription and receives the subscription messages.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Application activity trace data is contained within PCF reply
messages. The messages consist of a PCF Header, which has the
    Type field set to:

      MQCFT_APP_ACTIVITY

and a set of parameters containing the trace data. More
information about the format of these reply messages can be
found in the <b>Application activity trace message reference</b>
topic within the MQ V8.0 section of IBM Knowledge Center. The
    URI for this topic is
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSFKSJ_8.0.0/com.i
    bm.mq.mon.doc/q037590_.htm?lang=en.

When the classes for Java receive a PCF reply message, they look
at the the PCF Header, to see what type of reply the message
represents. They then perform the appropriate processing on that
    data.

The classes for Java did not recognise the value
<b>MQCFT_APP_ACTIVITY</b> as a valid value for the Type field
for the MQCFH structure. As such, when attempting to interpret
this value, an MQException containing MQ Reason Code 3013
    (MQRCCF_STRUCTURE_TYPE_ERROR) was thrown.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ classes for Java have been updated to recognise
<b>MQCFT_APP_ACTIVITY</b> as a valid value for the Type field
for the MQCFH structure. This ensures that any PCF reply
messages containing application activity trace data are
correctly returned to MQ classes for Java applications.
