APAR status

Error description

  • When installing WebSphere MQ Fix Pack 8.0.0.4 in non-English
language, the characters in the dialogs are corrupted.
The installation is successful if the corrupted characters are
ignored and the correct button presses are made.

Local fix

  • The installation can be continued by ignoring the corrupted
characters, or alternatively, by installing the Fix Pack in
English

All users wishing to install fix pack 8.0.0.4 who wish to
install via non-English dialog text.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Due to a packaging error during the fixpack release cycle for
8.0.0.4, the native language resource files were provided in an
invalid format for non-English languages. Because of this error,
corrupted characters may appear in dialog boxes for the Windows
installation of the fix pack files.

The application of the fix pack, and subsequent invocation of
the MQ product, will still work as expected in the native
language despite the corrupted characters appearing in the
installation dialogs.

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM MQ fix pack packaging process has been amended to
address this error for future fix pack releases
