Error description

  • When putting messages to a WebSphere MQ Advanced Message
Security 7.0.1.12 queue manager, some of the all messages
    received are corrupt.
    .
WMQ trace of the message channel agent (MCA) shows the valid
messages are put by the same RCVR channel thread. The messages
which are invalid are received and put by a second thread. That
indicates the MCA is using pipelining. The Channel stanza in
the qm.ini file shows PipeLineLength=2, which confirms the use
    of pipelining.

Local fix

  • Do not use the Channel stanza parameter PipeLineLength=2
with WMQ 7.0.1.12 Advanced Message Security.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users implementing Advanced Message Security (AMS) and setting
the PipeLineLength=2 parameter (pipelining) in the qm.ini
    Channels stanza.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Encrypted messages received over a channel with pipelining in
use have an extra AMS header added when put to the destination
queue. This means that the message cannot be properly read from
the queue. Attempts to read the message with conversion result
    in MQRC_FORMAT_ERROR.

Problem conclusion

  • Ensure that messages do not have additional AMS headers added by
    channels using pipelining.
