IT03282: ERROR_SHARING_VIOLATION ERROR WHEN INSTALLING FIXPACK ON WEBSPHERE MQ V7.5 ON MS WINDOWS

Fix Pack 8.0.0.2 for WebSphere MQ V8.0

Error description

• WebSphere MQ v7.5 Fixpack install intermittently fails on MS
  Windows, the install log shows the following error:
  
  (CopyCsdFile) ***Can't open \CSD.TMP (ERROR_SHARING_VIOLATION
  (32)) [4]
  
  Error 32 indicates that the process cannot access the file
  because it is being used by another process. This occurs
  intermittently, it may succeed if the fixpack install tried
  again.
  

Local fix

• Ensure that all nothing is using the file in question, this may
  be caused by virus checking, backup, or encryption software that
  operates on files at the OS level.
  As it is intermittent, retry the fixpack install.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  During the installation of MQ fixpack, access to some of the
  temporary files created by the installer failed with
  ERROR_SHARING_VIOLATION. This error is reported if the file has
  been locked by another process (example: a backup process or an
  anti-virus software) at the same time.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code is modified to retry the open or move operation after a
  few seconds and if the file could not be still accessed only
  then report the error and terminate the installation process.
