Error description

  • Working with WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition V7.0.4. The FTE
resource monitor " message to file transfer " does not work
properly, if message grouping is used. In case messages are put
on a queue in an unordered manner, where messages that belong to
a messageGroup are put on the the queue mixed with messages that
do not belong to a messageGroup, not all messages are written to
    the final destination.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition
7.0.4 and WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer 7.5 who are using
the message to file transfer feature to transfer message groups.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When specifying a message to file transfer the user can define
the group id of the message group that will be transferred.
The WebSphere MQ FTE/MFT agent should then wait until the
complete group of messages is available on the queue before
    reading them off the queue.

If first message defined in the group was not the first
message physically on the queue then the FTE/MFT agent would not
read this message. The FTE/MFT agent incorrectly read the
grouped message closest to the front of the queue rather than
the first logical message in the group on the queue. The
result is that the file at the destination side would only
contain a subset of the expected message data, the transfer
log would report no error and the message count contained within
the transfer log would be correct for the data that was
transferred i.e. if a message group contained 10 messages but
only 8 messages were transferred then the message count would be
    8.

Problem conclusion

  • The FTE/MFT agent has been modified to retrieve the first
logical message in the group when processing a message to file
transfer that is using message groups.
