Error description
WebSphere MQ File Transfer (MQ FTE) fails to complete file transfers with a status of PARTIAL_SUCCESS. This occurs when placing groups of files on a Windows file share to be transferred and is due to the MQ FTE agent process being unable to successfully delete the source file despite the disposition on the transfer request being set to "delete". The transfer log of the agent shows "BFGSS0044W: The file has transferred successfully but the source agent was unable to delete the source file. "
Local fix
Remove the file system locks held by the WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition agent and manually delete the source files.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: This issue affects all users of WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition who request file transfers with the source disposition set to "delete". Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: When performing file transfers, if the WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition (FTE) source agent requires recovery, for example because of a broken connection to its agent queue manager, in-progress transfers are suspended. During recovery processing, file system locks on the underlying files should be released. If recovery processing occurred before all the file data was sent to the destination, the file system lock was correctly released. However, if recovery processing occurred after all the data was sent to the destination agent but before the transfer finished, i.e., the audit log messages hadn't been sent, then the file system lock was not released but the reference to it discarded. As a result, the agent could not release the file system lock post recovery processing. Therefore, the agent has an unsuccessful attempt to delete the source file and the transfer was reported as partially successfully with a BFGSS0044 warning message.
Problem conclusion
The WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition agent code has been updated to release any open locks on files in the case of agent recovery processing. When transfers are restarted post agent recovery, files will be relocked by the agent. This new file system lock will then be released at the end of the transfer. Therefore, if the file was successfully transferred and the source disposition setting on the transfer request message was set to 'delete', the source file will be deleted. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v7.0 7.0.4.4 v7.5 7.5.0.3 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
