APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • WebSphere MQ clients can create an MQCD structure containing a
channel definition and pass it to the MQCONNX function via the
MQCNO connect options structure. Even though the client has
properly filled in the MQCD structure, the MQCONNX call fails
with reason code MQRC_CD_ERROR (2277). A trace of the client
shows reason code rrcE_INVALID_MQCD, and the error log shows
message AMQ9498 ("The MQCD structure supplied was not valid")
    with the following explanation:
    .
The value of the 'ExitNameLength' field has the value '0'.
This value is invalid for the operation requested.

Local fix

  • Connecting using a client channel definition table or by using
    the MQSERVER environment variable.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users using MQ Client with MQCONNX and supplying channel
    definition using MQCD.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
MQCONNX failed with error rrcE_INVALID_MQCD when validating the
ExitNameLength or ExitDataLength because of incorrect length
    check condition on these fields.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere client code has been modified to correctly
validate the ExitNameLength and ExitDataLength fields.
