Error description
This new function for WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition v7.0.4.3 introduces the ability to specify the priority of messages used internally by the agent during a transfer. Without this feature all messages created by commands or the agent will have the same priority. In situations where a very large number of new transfer requests are on an agent's command queue, internal conversation messages can experience significant delay before being processed. This delay can cause transfers to enter recovery thereby incurring further processing and delay on both the source and destination agents for those transfers.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition 7.0.4 Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: During normal processing the WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition Agent process messages from its command queue for several purposes. It uses this queue both to communicate with other agents for the processing and recovery of transfers, and to accept input from users, to create a new transfer or ping the agent for example. A very busy agent may appear to become unresponsive, as it will not be able to respond to an agent ping or new transfer request in a timely manner. Although the agent will eventually respond, it may appear to the user that it has hung.
Problem conclusion
The commandMessagePriority property has been introduced to set the priority of both internal messages and command messages for thefteStopAgent, fteCancelTransfer, ftePingAgent, and fteSetAgentTraceLevel commands. You can also use the commandMessagePriority property to set the priority of internal acknowledgement and acknowledgement-expected messages. You can set commandMessagePriority to a value to prioritize internal WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition messages above new transfer requests, which can improve agent performance. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Platform v7.0 -------- -------------------- Multiplatforms 7.0.4.3 Platform v7.5 -------- -------------------- Multiplatforms 7.5.0.2 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
