Error description

  • Using a WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition V7.0.4 protocol
bridge agent of type SFTP to source a managed file transfer
fails with a BFGBR0118E error. A trace of the failing transfer
    shows the failing scanDirectory call:

    c.i.w.b.session.sftp.SFTPSession
    ----+----+----+-- ! scanDirectory,
BFGBR0118E: Bridge agent was unable to view directory because
    [com.ibm.wmqfte.bridge.protocol.ProtocolException]

The trace and transfer log report the managed file transfer as
successful, but with no files being transferred:

BFGRP0036I: The transfer request has successfully completed,
    although no files were transferred.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of WebSphere MQ File Transfer edition
version 7, or the Managed File Transfer component of WebSphere
MQ version 7.5, who are using the SFTP protocol bridge to
retrieve files from the home directory of an SFTP user, where
the SFTP user's home directory is the UNIX root directory ('/'),
and the transfer definition requires that files are
transferred from the SFTP user's home directory.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The directory path conversion routines within the SFTP bridge
agent classes incorrectly handled the case where the SFTP user's
home directory is the UNIX root directory. This resulted in a
blank path supplied over SFTP when enquiring the contents of the
user's home directory, which failed with the BFGBR0118E error.

Problem conclusion

  • The SFTP bridge agent classes have been modified such that the
correct path is supplied over SFTP when the SFTP user's home
directory is the UNIX root directory.
