  • A NON-FUNCTIONAL WINDOWS "IBM MQSERIES" SERVICE IS CREATED WHEN
MQ CLIENT IS INSTALLED FROM SUPPORTPAC MQC75. THE SERVICE
PROPERTIES POINT TO AMQLSVC.EXE. THIS EXECUTABLE IS ONLY
INSTALLED WHEN THE SERVER CODE IS INSTALLED. THE CLIENT CAN BE
USED, ONLY THE SERVICE IS NOT STARTABLE.

USERS AFFECTED:
Users using WebSphere MQ 7.1 and 7.5 clients.

PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The windows service 'IBM MQSeries' gets created while installing
WebSphere MQ 7.1 and 7.5 clients. However, an attempt to start
the service will fail with the following error.
"Windows could not start IBM MQseries service on local computer"
"Error2:System cannot find the file specified".

The WebSphere MQ process amqsvc.exe that is run when the IBM
MQSeries service is started is not installed with WebSphere MQ
clients. The executable for this process is copied to the bin
directory only if the WebSphere MQ server is installed.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The WebSphere MQ code is modified such that the IBM MQSeries
service is created only if the WebSphere MQ server is installed.
