Error description

  • The queue manager abnormally terminates while an application
attempts to connect to a queue. The queue manager has activity
    trace (ACTVTRC) set to ON.

The initial FDC shows the following:
    Probe Id :- XC130031
    Component :- xehExceptionHandler
    Process Name :- C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\bin
    \amqzlaa0.exe

    zlaProcessMessage
    zlaProcessMQIRequest
    zlaMQCB
    zsqMQCB
    zsqATCBAfter
    xcsFFST

An FDC is then cut with Probe Id ZX005035 reporting the agent
    process (amqzlaa0.exe) has terminated unexpectedly.

FDCs may show the following Probe Ids:
    ZX092017 XC589160 ZL043050 ZL043050 ZL043105 ZX103020 ZX118016

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users who use activity tracing may be affected by this problem

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
WebSphere MQ activity tracing code was incorrectly dereferencing
a null pointer causing the FDC.

Problem conclusion

  • The code logic was changed so that it would first check whether
the variable contained a null pointer before trying to
    dereference it.
