Error description

  • The SupportPac MS0T (The WebSphere MQ Explorer) is installed.

Clicking on items in the Welcome pages of the WebSphere MQ
    (WMQ) Explorer, including:
    - Create the Default Configuration
    - Launch the Postcard Application
    - Launch the MQ API Exerciser

results in an error dialog being shown that says "The requested
application is either not installed or could not be launched.
    (AMQ4570)"

Clicking the details button opens the WMQ Explorer help and the
message "Check that the corresponding product feature has been
installed successfully. If symptoms persist contact your System
    Administrator" is shown.

It is not clear from the error message and information text that
    this is an expected error.

Local fix

  • The Enduser should click the 'Administer WebSphere MQ' button in
the top right corner of the initial 'Welcome' screen, in order
to proceed directly to administration tasks. Another option
would be to click the 'X' on the tab named 'Welcome' at the top
    of the screen.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of the WMQ v7 Explorer who have
installed the MS0T support pack, or who have selected only the
WMQ Explorer feature of the standard WMQ install.

    Platforms affected:
    Linux (x86),Linux (x86-64),Windows

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The API Exerciser, Default Configuration Wizard and Postcard
application are installed by the Server feature of WMQ, rather
    than the WMQ Explorer feature.

When only the WMQ Explorer is installed, either by the MS0T
SupportPac, or by selecting the WMQ Explorer feature but not the
Server feature from the WMQ Installer, these applications are
    not available.

The error message that is shown did not explain this clearly.

Problem conclusion

  • The error message has been updated to clarify that these
applications also need the WMQ Server component available in
    order to run.
