Error description

  • After applying the fix for IC65324, the WebSphere MQ (WMQ) JMS
client hangs while reconnecting to another queue manager in the
connection name list. The issue occurs while doing a synchronous
get operation using the MessageConsumer.receive() API.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of auto-reconnect feature of the
WebSphere MQ v7.0.1 classes for Java Message Service (JMS).

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) +Java
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When the WMQ queue manager is ended normally and
the reconnect option is used, it sends a notification to the
connected WMQ JMS clients to attempt a reconnect. The queue
manager first enters into a quiescing state and then ends. The
WMQ JMS client first sets the quiescing state flag and then
attempts a reconnect. After the reconnect is successful this
flag was not unset. This led to the infinite loop and a
    perception of a hang.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix ensures that the appropriate state is set so that the
WMQ JMS client reconnects and starts to send and receive
messages. This requires the changes made in IC65324 as a
    pre-requisite.
