IC65163: UNRESOLVED SYMBOL THREAD_AFFINITY_PROPERTY WHEN COMPILING WEBSPHERE MQ CLASSES FOR JAVA APPLICATION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When compiling an application that references the
  com.ibm.mq.constants.CMQC.THREAD_AFFINITY_PROPERTY variable, the
  following error is returned:
  
  The symbol is not found.
  symbol : variable THREAD_AFFINITY_PROPERTY
  area   : Interface of com.ibm.mq.constants.CMQC
  MQEnvironment.properties.put(CMQC.THREAD_AFFINITY_PROPERTY,
  new Boolean(true));
  
  The application correctly compiles on MQ 7.0.1.0, but fails on
  earlier releases.
  

Local fix

• Reference com.ibm.mq.MQC or update to V7.0.1.0.

  The com.ibm.mq.constants.CMQC class did not contain the
  THREAD_AFFINITY_PROPERTY constant, and is only found in the
  deprecated class com.ibm.mq.MQC.
  

Problem conclusion

• The com.ibm.mq.constants.CMQC class has been updated to include
  the THREAD_AFFINITY_PROPERTY constant.
