Error description

  • An FDC with Probe ID XY513001 is produced in an MSCS
environment immediately after the queue manager fails over to
the other node. The FDC contains the following comment and
    stack:
    Comment1 :- WinNT error 5 from CreateFile.
    Comment2 :- Access is denied.

    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
A lock file has been added to WebSphere MQ to assist in
determining the state of the queue manager, specifically for
software HA purposes. The purpose of this lock file is
primarily to determine whether the queue manager is active on
another node. However, a timing condition existed whereby the
lock file could become unavailable during an MSCS failover in a
hardware HA setup as the disk hosting the lock file transited
to the standby node. Under these circumstances, attempts to
access the lock file will fail with ACCESS DENIED errors. This
is a valid scenario and an FDC should not be produced under
    such circumstances.

Problem conclusion

  • WebSphere MQ was modified to suppress the production of an FDC
under the outlined scenario. Instead, attempts to read the lock
file which result in ACCESS DENIED errors are treated as if the
lock file is currently locked, and therefore that the queue
    manager is on another node.
