APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Topic objects should not be able to be created with the same
non-zero length topic string. Being able to do so leads to the
following FDC when the queue manager is restarted:
    Probe Id :- KN328060
    Component :- kpiInitTopicTree
    ExecCtrlrMain
    zxcPostInitialiseSetup
    kpiInitTopicTree
    xcsFFST

When the queue manager is then ended the following FDC is
    generated:
    Probe Id :- XC130031
    Component :- xehExceptionHandler
    ExecCtrlrMain
    zxcCleanUp
    zxcCleanupRepository
    xcsFreeMem
    xcsFFST

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users who attempt to define multiple topic objects with the
    same non-zero length topic string.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
It is possible to alter the topic string of an existing topic
object with the DEFINE TOPIC() TOPICSTR() REPLACE command. This
enables multiple topic objects to have the same non-zero length
topic string. Having multiple topic objects with the same non-
zero length topic string causes problems for the queue manager.

It should also be possible to redefine the system topic objects
with a zero length topic string.

Problem conclusion

  • DEFINE TOPIC() TOPICSTR() REPLACE is updated to prevent the
topic string of an existing topic object from being altered.
This prevents multiple topic objects from having the same non-
    zero length topic string.

The code is also updated to allow the following topic objects
to be defined with a zero length topic string:
    SYSTEM.BASE.TOPIC
    SYSTEM.DEFAULT.TOPIC
    SYSTEM.BROKER.DEFAULT.SUBPOINT
    SYSTEM.BROKER.DEFAULT.STREAM
