APAR status

  • Closed as fixed if next.

Error description

  • In some situations, the ResultSet from JDBC calls may not be
    garbage collected.

This can lead to an OutOfMemoryError at the WAS level.

If this situation affects you, then heapdump/stacktrace from
the error will show many references to com.ibm.isf.idbc classes.

These are the classes not getting cleaned up.

Local fix

  • One workaround is to schedule maintenance (perhaps weekly) to
restart the WebSphere Application Server instance.
This allows its memory to reset, avoiding the error.
This APAR is also fixed in 11.5.0.2 Service Pack 4, as well as
    all later versions.

Problem summary

  • Code changes made to explicitly close and release ResultSet
    objects.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix
