APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a row with a decimal column is rejected during a BULK LOAD
operation, the Oracle Connector fails with the error:
Fatal Error: APT_Decimal::assignFromString: invalid format for
the source string.  Expecting decimal separator or digit got '
This APAR is similar to JR53337. However JR53337 was for a basic
write reject link whereas this APAR is for BULK LOAD reject
links.
Both JR53337 and this APAR are regressions from APAR JR50944.

Local fix

  • Find and eliminate the rejected record.

Problem summary

  • When a row with a decimal column is rejected during a BULK LOAD

This APAR is similar to JR53337. However JR53337 was for a basic
write reject link whereas this APAR is for BULK LOAD reject
links. Both JR53337 and this APAR are regressions from APAR
JR50944.

Problem conclusion

  • In the load reject producer, when one of the columns that's not
written is decimal, the value in will not be SQLT_PDN (see
ocidfn.h). It'll be zero and requires special handling.

Temporary fix

  • Use INDATE or UPSERT instead of BULK LOAD.
