JR57211: JOB CONTAINING A PREVIOUS ACTIVE STAGE WITH A CONNECTOR RESET THE JOB LOCALE TO THE ENGINE ONE ON SUBSEQUENT ACTIVE STAGE.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When the job contain a previous active stage with a connector,
  this cause a subsequent active stage with an aggregator to work
  in engine locale instead of the job locale causing errors as :
  At row nn,
  link "AggregatorInputLink", while processing column
  "AggregatorInputLink.DecimalColumn"
  Value treated as NULL
  Attempt to convert String value "50.000000" to Decimal type
  unsuccessful
  

Local fix

• Set environment variable UVLANG to the correct DataStage Engine
  locale ( "US-ENGLISH" as an example ) to force the aggregator
  to use the correct locale.
  

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  The problem only affects users of the server canvas, utilising
  connectors and the aggregator stage.
  ****************************************************************
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The problem is that the locale setting code is performed after
  the plugin infrastructure is loaded. This results in the wrong
  locale being applied to the running of the plugin (aggegator)
  stage. The problem only manifests itself in environments where
  the decimal separator in numerics is not the dot character.

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Apply the patch.

Problem conclusion

• The patch moves the locale setting code to before the loading of
   the plugin code so that the correct locale is in place from the
   outset.
