JR54767: SEQUENCE JOB FAILS TO COMPILE IF USERVARIABLES STAGE CONTAINS AN EXPRESSION WITH "DS_JOB_NAME" IN IT.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The compilation of the job fails with:
  WARNING: Variable 'abc' never assigned a value.
  
  In the job in Parameter stage > User variables > Filter there
  is some Expression specified. When in this expression
  DS_JOB_NAME is specified with uppercase the job's compilation
  fails, but when changed it to ds_job_name (lowercase) the job
  compiles successfully.
  

Local fix

• Use lowercases.
  

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  This problem only affects users who have utilised the internal
  macro names in certain expression fields with sequence jobs.
  The customers case in point was the use of DS_JOB_NAME in the
  derivation of a UserVariable setting.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The problem was caused by the cumulative registration of
  context information as sequence generation progressed
  associated with internal macro names which were too simple.
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Apply the patch for JR54767.
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• The sequence generation code was modified to unregister context
  information when starting a new context. In addition the macro
  names were further obfuscated to make them significantly less
  likely. Instead of being of the form '_. . .' the were changed
  to '_&*. . .'.
