Error description

  • DataStage needs to support Oracle 12c Client and Server.
    The Oracle Connector was enhanced with this support under APAR
    JR51297. Now we need to enhance the DRS Connector with this
    same support.

Local fix

  • See technote 1683476 for information on the work around.
    The technote title is:
    Does Oracle connector support the Oracle 12c client?
    The explanation also works for DRS Connector.

Problem summary

  • Information Server v11.5 introduced support for Oracle 12c and
    DB2 v10.5, but DRS Connector was not enhanced at that time to
    provide this additional support.

Problem conclusion

  • Oracle 10g support was removed and Oracle 12c was added. Support
     for DB2 v9.1 was removed and support for multiple versions of
    DB2 were added (9.8, 10.1, 10.5 and 11.1).
    .
    POST-INSTALL STEPS:
    After installing the patch, DRS Connector jobs must be
    recompiled before they can be run.
    .
    IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL POST-INSTALL STEPS:
    This patch makes it possible for NEW DRS Connector jobs to
    support additional choices for the variant property. However, an
    internal property called "ConnectorLibraryInfo" in existing DRS
    Connector jobs must be migrated to the new default value. This
    post-install migration step must only be performed AFTER this
    JR54187 patch has been successfully installed. Here are the
    steps to perform this post-install migration.
    1)
    On a Windows client tier, make a backup copy of this file:
    <install-path>\Clients\CCMigrationTool\StageUpgrades.xml
    By default, <install-path> is C:\IBM\InformationServer
    2)
    Prepare a new copy of the StageUpgrades.xml file in the same
    directory mentioned in step 1. The contents of this new file are
    given here:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <StageUpgrades>
     <StageType name="DRSConnectorPX DRSConnector">
      <Set path="/Connection/ConnectorLibraryInfo" contexts="all"
    when="always">!DEFAULT!</Set>
     </StageType>
    </StageUpgrades>
    3)
    Here are 2 ways to run the CMT from the command line.
    a)
    This command converts the ConnectorLibraryInfo of exactly 1 job,
    named by the -J command line option.
    CCMigration.exe -u <username> -p <password> -h <host>:<port> -P
    <project> -L +<logfileName> -U -M -Q -J <jobName>
    Substitute your own values for <username>, <password>, <host>,
    <port>, <project>, <logfileName> and <jobName>.
    If you want a list of all the DRS Connector jobs in a project,
    use the DStageWrapper command line utility like this:
    ./DStageWrapper.sh -domain <host>:<port> -user <isadmin>
    -password <password> -query "select distinct
    y.DSNameSpace,y.name from x in DSStage, y in DSJobDef where
    x._xmeta_lockingRoot = rid(y) and x.StageType in
    ('DRSConnector','DRSConnectorPX') "
    Column 1 in the resultset (y.DSNameSpace) is the project and
    column 2 (y.name) is the job name. This command example is for a
    repository on DB2. You must replace <host>:<port>, <isadmin>,
    and <password> with your own specifications.
    b)
    This command converts the ConnectorLibraryInfo of all jobs in a
    project. Note that the -J command line option is eliminated.
    CCMigration.exe -u <username> -p <password> -h <host>:<port> -P
    <project> -L +<logfileName> -U -M -Q
