JR52452: ENCRYPTED PASSWORD NOT MASKED IN THE DATASTAGE JOBLOG

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When using an encrypted ParameterSet password and calling a job
  via a job sequence. In the job log the password is encrypted
  and masked as per example below:
  
  ParameterSet.Password = ********
  
  However, in the calling job sequence job log it displays the
  encrypted Password and is not masked as per example below:
  
  ParameterSet.Password={iisenc}CZtAigziyHMBboEzHUVZoA==
  
  The same problem also applies when using Encrypted Environment
  variables. The encrypted text for the environment variable is
  displayed in the job log instead of the masked value.

  The environment variable section in a job log and the list
  of parameters used in starting a job run contain the encrypted
  password string. It is desirable for them to contain an
  obfuscation string.

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Apply patch for JR52452
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• The offending entries in the log were processed and encrypted
  parameters/environment variables had their values replaced with
  the constant "********". The functionality can be reinstated to
  its old behaviour using the environment variable DS_OLDENV_LOG.
