JR51952: EXPORTING A JOB FAILS AFTER PLACING AN UNKNOWN CHARACTER IN A COLUMN DESCRIPTION.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Exporting of a job through DataStage Designer or IBM Information
  Server Manager fails, because of an unknown character in a
  column description. This was tested in a Complex Flat File stage
  inside of a job and the unknown character is a "ﾀ".
  

Local fix

• If you remove the special or unknown character from the column
  description field, the export of the job runs fine.

  Exporting job designs using ISTools/ISManager fails when
  strange/unknown characters are included in column descriptions.
  Issue was discovered with a job that included  "€" character in
  a given column description.  With these characters edited out,
  the job would export successfully.

Problem conclusion

• A fix has been applied to the export service to correctly handle
   'problem' characters in the underlying data stream when
  exporting.
