JR50593: GETTING POPUP ERROR WINDOWS WITH TEXT "OVERFLOW" WHEN SAVING JOB IN DESIGNER CLIENT.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Unable to save job in repository, getting popup error windows
  with message "Overflow".
  Issue appears caused by too many characters in the description
  fields in the job properties.
  

Local fix

• Clear the description field
  

Problem summary

  The problem only impacts customers whose jobs have very
  long descriptions

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  A job with a very long description (>32767 bytes) cannot be
  saved if a transformer stage is opened and closed without
  opening the related stages.

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Apply the provided patch

Problem conclusion

• The problem was resolved by Using the correct method to obtain
  an objects pin list rather than using just getting the objects
  properties directly. Some objects DO NOT have pin lists, th job
  objects description occupies the same location as a stage pin
  list.
  

Temporary fix

• No easy resolution but if all stage in the job have been opened
  the problem does not occur as the issue relates to the cache
  handling code.
