JR44230: SERVER JOB WITH FTP PLUGIN ABORTS WITHOUT FATAL ERROR WHEN WRITE TO REMOTE MACHINE FAILS

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A server job which puts data using FTP plug-in stage aborted as
the FTP PUT operation failed due to the disk full error at the
target machine, but there appeared no FATAL error in the
DataStage job log, only a WARNing "Abnormal termination of
stage <JobName>..<Tranformer> detected" reported.

Local fix

  • Use parallel job with FTP plugin or FTP Enterprise stage.

Problem summary

  • FTP plugin aborts immediately when write to remote machine fails

Problem conclusion

  • FTP Plugin will ignore SIGPIPE signal and handle network send
failure.
SIGPIPE signal will be restored at end of job.
