JR43012: When XML Stage Assembly Editor has errors, the errors consume a large amount of Memory

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After renaming a link to the XML assembly editor with valid
  mappings, the mapping become invalid an generate assembly editor
  validation errors. These errors can consume a large amount of
  jvm heap memory on the application server and potentially crash
  it.
  

Local fix

• 1. Increase heap size to 8GB or 16 GB, that will reduce the
  frequency of hitting this problem.
  2. Check swap space configuration, configure it to 64GB, or 48GB
  (2x or 1.5x of physical memory)
  3. Have a single user to fix those assembly editor problem,
  fixing it one at a time (Do not open multiple sessions, trying
  to fix those concurrently). If you fix one at a time, each
  operations is going to cost 1GB so the system should still be
  operatable
  4. Also think about the following:
  a) If user needs to rename link name to XML Pack, fix the
  mapping right after the rename in a single session.
  b) If user needs to rename or remove column to XML Pack, fix the
  mapping issue right after the rename or remove operation in a
  single session."
  

Problem summary

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The XML Stage throws OutOfMemory error when using large schemas
  which causes WAS to crash.

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Apply patch for APAR JR43134.
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• DataStage jobs do not throw outOfMemory error when changing
  input/output link names to the XML Stage.
