Problem summary

  • Reduced memory consumption of SORT stage on server canvas
SORT stage consumes huge temporary space when row size has large
    variations.
Problem is seen only when row has character/binary data and
    varying row size.
Actually size allocated per record is more then actual record
    size.

Problem conclusion

  • Memory allocated per record now limited to size of actual
record, resulting in reduced memory and temporary space
    consumption.
Good performance improvement seen when records size has very
    large variation.

Temporary fix
