APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In DataStage 7.5, enhancement patches 72959 and 75336 were
  provided to add additional operator identification details to
  the process descriptions (viewable with ps -ef command) for
  parallel job processes.  For example:
    dsadm  8132 13.0  3.4 parallel p_acxReader_reader in
    CDI_Std_Parallel_Reader
  However, these changes were not included in the Information
  server 8.x releases where the equivalent process appears with
  description:
    dsadm  1097 18.1  0.6 /mnt/Phase_7/datastage/oem/bin/osh -
    APT_PMsectionLeaderFlag vm11012 10001 0 300 vm11012_01 vm11012
    1323449106.732142.435
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• PROBLEM:
  ps output format changed from 751 to 85, operator name missing
  in the ps output.
  
  RESOLUTION:
  Modified the ps output format to have operator name appended to
  the existing
  ps output while the job runs.
  The ps output now includes the following as a last argument, and
  the argument
  length is limited to 50 characters:
  "parallel <operator name>"
  or
  "sequential <operator name>"
  or
  "ORCHESTRATE_Section_Leader"
  
  The environment variable APT_NO_OP_PSOUTPUT is provided to turn
  off this feature.
  APT_NO_OP_PSOUTPUT should be set in order to turn off this
  feature.
  

Problem conclusion

• This change is  a re-implementation of what was originally a
  customer special fix. For this reason it is only available on
  Linux.
