APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • DataStage 8.5 GA on Solaris, when using the terminator activity,
intermittently PX jobs will hang instead of aborting when the
stop signal is sent to them.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • We suspect that under certain circumstances a parallel job hangs
    after receiving a STOP request.

Problem conclusion

  • This change will forcibly shut down the lead osh process by
sending SIGTERM and ultimately SIGKILL if it doesn't
shut down with a time specified by the environment variable
    PXShutdownTimeout. PXShutdownTimeout specifies
the number of seconds to allow after sending SIGINT before
trying SIGTERM and again before sending SIGKILL.
