Error description

  • Information Server / DataStage jobs on Windows intermittently
    hang with Nutcracker errors:
      Process xxx appears to have hung.
      Cleaning up global critical sections held by this process.

    Issue reported on IIS 8.1.0.1 (8.1 fix pack 2) but may not be
    limited to that maint level.
    

Local fix

  • This issue usually occurs when the system is very busy.
    Workarounds include running fewer jobs at the same time,
    reducing the number of nodes in parallel job configuration
    files, and not starting too many jobs in a short time.
    

Problem summary

    limited to that maint level.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR has now been superceded by  APAR JR41654.
    
    The patch associated with this APAR will upgrade MKS toolkit to
    Version 9.4 FP1.

Temporary fix

  • This problem can be avoided by not stressing the system. Run
    fewer  jobs at the same time, don't start jobs too quickly in
    the sequencer.
